On the Roadkill Again You’ve got it all down pat: at Court Métrange, come postprandial, anything goes. And this goes for the screening, too, whose adamant allegiance to this sacrosanct tradition is all but holier-than-thou. The six films presented are devoted to one idol only: the human body, in all its facets. It’s a known fact that the filmmakers’ ever-cornucopious infatuation with this object made up of skin and bones is insatiable. But not only that. Whether dressed to the teeth or slashed to shreds, filmmakers capture the corporeal realm with delectation. The bodies are but a pretext, a palatable breeding ground for pleasure, probing and peep dreams. A genuine autopsy of genres, this lineup resembles a gut-gushing roadtrip bound for apocalyptic, idiosyncratic and imbecilic horizons lined with the festival’s timeless signature of sleaze. From director to coroner, there’s but one little step, and in which, here, we wallow with relish.
